If you're a stylist you know already that most of the traditional Beauty School Experience focuses on European Beauty Standards. How to care for textured hair in its natural state isn't taught, nor are protective styles, or how to provide representation in your salon. SFCE provides the missing links showing you how to care for & provide a healthy hair experience to your guests with texture focusing on techniques that make the hair look great in its natural state of Waves, Curls, or Coils.

The Educator
Martina Nicholas is a Texture Expert & Educator based in Phoenix Az. She is the Owner of Sunflower Curls Studio.
Martina is the Texture Specialist & Educator for Oligo Professionel & an Educator for Fast Foils. Some other notable accolades include: She was listed on Modern Salons Top 100 for ‘22, BTC Top 100 for Studio Design 2022, & Top 100 for Texture 21.
She has previously been a Curl Coach with Devacurl, created the Texture program at SR Academy, and is an ambassador & content creator for Miche Beauty, Shhy Beauty, Bounce Curl, KeraCo, Sharkfin Shears.
Outside of education she loves Styling & Set Work- most recently doing hair for the FentyBowl.
Her mission is to provide simplified curl education to help more salons start working on all textures. This helps her affect the widespread Hair Trauma in regards to natural hair affecting her community; & on a long term scale providing range & accessibility.

Lean how to identify curl types & brand agnostic product knowledge. You’ll also learn how to hydrate & set any curl type whether for definition or volume. Go over diffusing techniques to set the hair & give the hair more longevity.
Protective Styling
Learn how to utilize 2 strand twists & flat twists to provide your coily guest with a style they can wear that’ll keep their hair detangled, seal moisture in their ends, & elongate their curl pattern.
